Ashirwad Steels and Industries (ASHSI), incorporated in 1986 and headquartered at Kolkata, is a company engaged in the business of sponge iron and bottling of gas. The company manufactures and supplies sponge iron used in manufacturing finished steel. Under its bottling business, the company is engaged in bottling of hydrocarbon gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Ashirwad Steels and Industries has two sponge iron plants located at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand and Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh. ASHSI also has two bottling plants located at Howrah, West Bengal and Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

Ashirwad Steels and Industries disclosed that it has swung to a profit of Rs 4.21 million for the quarter ended in September 2007.

Net Sales rose 22.09% to Rs 110.74 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from Rs 90.70 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

Total income rose 20.08% to Rs 112.61 million for the quarter ended September 2007, from Rs 93.78 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 1.04 in the quarter ended September 2007
