Cybele Industries (CYBELEIND) is engaged in the manufacture and sale of cables and accessories and construction activities. It was incorporated on May 17, 1993 and got its current name on Jul. 10, 2007.
The ISO 9001 certified company offers building cables, flexible cables, power cables, submersible pump cables, automotive cables, control cables, instrumentation cables, battery cables, power cords, cross-linked polyethylene cables, data conductors and polyvinyl chloride compounds. The products find use in construction, automobile, railways, home appliances, power, consumer electrical, consumer electronics, computers, home appliances and other sectors. The manufacturing plant is located in Chennai with an installed capacity of 38,400 ignition wiring sets, 43 million meters of PI cable, 1.392 million meters of power cables, 5.76 million power supply cords, and 1,800 MT of PVC. It has obtained certificates of registration for use of the ANSI-RAB accreditation mark, RvA form Raad Voor Accreditatie and UKAS mark from the United Kingdom Accreditation in conjunction with UL mark. The company uses the brand name Q-Flex Cables.
In 2007, the company entered into joint venture with Vijayshanti Builders, Chennai to construct residential flats in 5 acres of the Vandalur factory land and is constructing residential flats in an additional 5 acres of factory land. Both projects are expected to be completed by March 2009. The company has purchased about 12.5 acres of land near Chennai for development. It is a sick company under the purview of the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). Power supply cords are exported to Europe, America and Canada and submersible pump cables and other products to the Gulf countries and Africa.

The company`s board of directors decided to takeover the business of itd partnership firm Asian Cables. The net consideration for the business take over of Asia Cable worked out to Rs 56,755,000 for which equity shares of the company at the rate of Rs 10 each will be allotted to the partners of the partnership, subject to the approval of BIFR.
