Dai-Ichi Karkaria (DAICHI), incorporated in 1960, is a manufacturer of specialty chemicals. It commenced commercial production in 1963 in technical collaboration with the world renowned Dai-Ichi Kogyo Seiyaku Co., Japan.
The company`s core competence lies in its ability to provide cohesive solution needs for various industries including manufacturing complex molecules and formulations like spin finishes, additives for the rayon industry, selected polymers for the oil industry like pour point depressants, flocculants and chelating agents used in water treatment and related industries. Around 14 new products were launched in FY07.
The manufacturing facilities are located at Pune and Kurkumbh in Maharashtra with an installed capacity of 16,150 MTPA. The company has partnerships and alliances with Dai-Ichi Kogyo Seiyaku Co. and Matsumoto Yushi Seiyaku Co. of Japan, Baker Petrolite of USA and Inogent Laboratories of India (The GVK Group). The spin-off of the pharma business for which it entered into a joint venture with GVK Biosciences will enable it to focus on advancing higher value-added business like polymer technology in the petroleum and refinery additive business. Baker Oil Treating (India) and Dai-ichi Gosei Chemicals (India) are subsidiaries.
