Arvind Mills (ARVINDMILL) is involved in the business of mainly manufacturing and marketing cotton textile fabrics. Set up in 1931, is the flagship company of the Rs 20 billion (USD 500 million) Lalbhai group. Arvind N. Lalbhai is the chairman and Sanjay S. Lalbhai, the managing director of the company.
The categories under which the businesses are classified are denim and khakhis, shirtings, knits and voiles. The denim division has a capacity to produce 110 million meters per year. The new product developments include poly urethane-coated denims, customized designer denims, printed denims and structurals. It integrated forward into garment manufacturing (jeans and T-shirts) investing more than $30 million in 10 new factories. It has a SEZ in Khokra. Subsidiaries include Asman Investments, Arvind Products, Arvind Worldwide Inc., Arvind Worldwide (M) Inc., Arvind Overseas (M), Arvind Spinning and Lifestyle Fabrics.
The company has set up a state-of-the-art design centre in New York targeting the premium US customers. Diesel has a joint venture with the company for the creation of a new company called Diesel India Fashion Arvind, representing the official arrival of Diesel in the Indian market. The company has 54 megamart stores in 16 cities of India. Being the third largest producer of denim in the world, Arvind caters to the high quality textile requirements of Europe, US, West Asia, the Far East & the Asia Pacific in more than 70 countries. It supplies fabric to Levi`s, Gap, Dockers and so on.

Arvind Mills registered a sharp drop in net profit of Rs 58.2 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from a profit of Rs 67.00 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
Net sales rose 43.93% to Rs 5,103.3 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 3,545.7 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
Total income rose 43.46% to Rs 5,154.9 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 3,593.2 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 0.24 for the quarter ended June 2007.

Arvind Mills today inked an exclusive international license agreement with Cherokee, a leading global licensor and brand management company for its Cherokee brand. The multi-year agreement covers a wide range of categories including men`s, women`s and children`s clothing, footwear, accessories, home and other categories.
Future Plans
The company has plans to setup design studios in Europe.
Arvind Mills plans to open around 100 megamart stores in the country in the next five years. It wants to expand from 16 cities to 100 cities and from 54 stores to 150 stores. The company is planning to open 10 stores with an investment of Rs 300 to 400 million in 2007.
