B F L Software Ltd (BFL) was promoted by the Bangur Foundation in 1992 with the objective of setting up a 100 per cent export oriented unit at Bangalore. It primarily offered cost-effective and quality software solutions to overseas clients. In April 2000, BFL merged with Mphasis, a web-enabled solutions company, and the name has been changed to Mphasis-BFL Ltd. The company currently employs over 11,000 employees across 24 offices and 9 delivery centres in India, Mexico and China.
The company provides IT and BPO services and solutions to industries across various business verticals like banking, insurance, brokerage, retail & logistics, airlines, technology and utilities. Mphasis Technologies provides services and solutions to organizations in the fields of R&D and product development. Their offerings span across 9 industries, mobile, networking and telecom, industrial automation, computing platforms, automotive-telematics, consumer electronics, healthcare, life sciences and RFID (Retail). The use of the technology rental lab concept addresses the key requirements of process integration, IP protection, technology partnerships, domain knowledge, and resource scalability. The BPO services provide solutions in the English and Spanish language to the Fortune 500 companies.

Mphasis registered a 58.95% growth in net profits to Rs 290.33 million for the quarter ended in March, 2007 from a profit of Rs 182.65 million for the quarter ended in March, 2006Net Sales for the quarter rose 60.22% to Rs 1633.89 million for the quarter ended March, 2007 from Rs 1019.79 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.Total income rose 54.90% to Rs 1610.01 million for the quarter ended March, 2007, from Rs 1039.38 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 1.78 in the quarter ended March, 2007 .
