SI Group-India, formerly Schenectady Herdillia, is a producer of petrochemicals in India. SI develops organic chemicals and phenolic resins including cumene, phenol, acetone, phthalic anhydride, diacetone alcohol, nonyl phenol, para cumyl phenol, para octyl phenol, para tertiary butyl phenol, diphenyl oxide and mesityl oxide. The company also produces perfumery chemicals such as diphenyl oxide, acetophenone, phenyl dimethyl carbinol and woodytol and pharmaceutical intermediates such as isobutyl benzene. Manufacturing plants of the company are located at Thane-Belapur, Navi Mumbai, Rasal and Lote. SI exports to various countries such as the United States of America, Australia, South Africa, South East Asia, the Far East, Western Europe and the Middle East.
Financials
The company reported a loss of Rs 20.20 million for the quarter ended Sep. 2006 as against a loss of Rs 95.50 million during the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Sales for this period increased 49.93% to Rs 1,492.30 million from Rs 995.30 million. SI-Group, for the year ended Mar. 2006, reported a 27.17% decline in sales to Rs 5,168.18 million as against Rs 7,096.01 million for the year ended Mar. 2005. Net profit for this period also declined 39.31% to Rs 118.41 million as against Rs 195.1 million. The EPS for FY06 stood at Rs 2.80.
