Simplex Infrastructures (SIMPLEXIN) is a global company engaged in significant industrial and public infrastructure development programs. It was incorporated on Dec. 19, 1924 and came out with a public issue on Feb. 12, 1993. Earlier known as Simplex Concrete Piles (India), it acquired its present name with effect from Dec. 23, 2005.
Several prestigious orders have been bagged in various segments of the construction business including ground engineering, power, marine, industrial, building and housing, highways, railways, bridges and urban infrastructure. Having executed over 2,100 projects in India and abroad, the company has been associated with high profile projects like the Howrah Bridge, Reliance Jamnagar refinery, Tata steel plant in Jamshedpur, the Supreme Court in New Delhi and many more. It is credited with the introduction of the pioneering cast-in-situ driven pile foundations in India and Southeast Asia and left its footprint across has the West Indies, Tashkent, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and Sri Lanka.
As on September 2008, the order backlog stood at over 100 billion. Some recent prestigious orders bagged by the company include an order for the construction of a second tower of the twin-tower complex G-Emporium at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates valued at Rs 6,300 million and residential tower for Rs 5,870 million; an order from the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Bangalore for the construction of a cement plant, sewerage system and thermal power plant; construction of six flyovers on Seeb Corniche Road in Muscat in Sultanate of Oman; the prestigious first phase of the Mumbai Metro involving civil construction of a 10.7 Km long viaduct on the Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar elevated corridor for the Mumbai MRTS project; the Qatalum Thermal Power Plant project in Qatar; civil work for 1050 MW Maithon Thermal Power Project from the joint venture company between Tata Power and DVC; a contract from DP World for ICTT Kochi Phase 1A; and a stadium in West Indies among many other projects.

Financials
Simplex Infrastructures reported a growth in standalone net profit for the quarter ended September 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose marginally 46.96% to Rs 280.7 million from Rs 191 million in the same quarter last year.
Net sales for the quarter rose marginally 76.51% to Rs 10,080.9 million, while total income for the quarter rose marginally 74.73% to Rs 10,089.7 million, when compared with the prior year period.
The company posted an earnings per share of Rs 5.56 for the quarter ending September 2008.

On Sep. 11, 2008, the shareholders raised the borrowing limit of the company upto Rs 2,500 million and authorized the board to arrange or fix the terms and conditions of all such monies to be borrowed from time to time as to interest repayment, security, or otherwise as per their discretion.

The company has bagged an order for the construction of the second tower of the twin-tower complex G-Emporium at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates valued at Rs 6,300 million. The project, executable over the next 30 months, is a 56-storied tower of the same height and dimension as the first tower admeasuring 1 million square feet. It had also secured the order for the construction of the residential tower for Rs 5,870 million.

Simplex Infrastructures bagged Rs 6.53 billion new orders from different sectors which includes an order from Ritz Carlton Hotel, Bangalore, construction of a cement plant, sewerage system and thermal power plant.
Future Plans
Simplex Infrastructures plans to increase its focus on overseas projects. It already has an EPC contract with Qatar Petroleum, awarded directly by the Qatar government, which is a contract in Doha worth Rs 3500 million for the construction, completion and maintenance of Hilton Doha Hotels. It is also constructing a stadium in West Indies.
