Samtel Color produces colour picture tubes of different sizes (CPTs), colour display tubes (CDT) and deflection yokes. CPTs are used in the production of colour televisions. CDTs are mainly used in colour display monitors used with personal computers. The company has commissioned 5 production lines with an annual production capacity of over 10 million tubes.
The company sells its products in domestic and export markets. In the domestic market, the company has a market share of around 50%.
As a result of its lines capacity increase, the company has reported a sharp increase of 23% in sales for the month of Jul. 2006 at 584,000 tubes against 457,000 tubes in the same month last year. This is likely to increase going forward as Lines 4&5 begin delivering optimal volumes.
As a result of the shifts within the sector and the full commercialization of its new lines, the company has witnessed a noticeable increase in its domestic market share from about 38-40% last year to around 50% now.
Samtel Color belongs to the Samtel group promoted by Satish Kaura in 1986.

For the last year ended Mar.31, 2006, the company`s net sales was down by 18.31% from the previous year at Rs 7,774.3 million and PAT fell 98.71% to Rs 8.3 million.
For the latest quarter ended Sep 30, 2006, sales rose 36.78% to Rs 3,009.8 million compared with the corresponding quarter last year. PAT fell 133.71% to result in a loss of Rs 6 million for the latest quarter.
Recent Developments
Samtel Color announces that its two new manufacturing lines, Line 4 and Line 5, have become commercially operational.
The company's Line 4 (capacity 1.5 mill per annum), which manufactures 22-inch super flat CPTs at Ghaziabad and Line 5 (capacity 2.5 mill per annum). which manufactures 21 inch super flat CPTs at Kota, moved into commercial production in Jul. 2006. These new lines have added 4 million tubes per annum to the company's overall capacity taking it to over 10 million tubes per annum.
