Formerly known as Simbhaoli Sugar Mills, Simbhaoli Sugars (SSL) was established as a partnership firm in 1933. It was incorporated in 1936 as a private limited company. The company went public in 1989 and is promoted by G S Mann and Associates. The company is engaged in the manufacturing of sugar, rectified spirit, country spirit, whiskey, brandy and civil rum. SSL has three sugar plants at Simbhaoli and Brijnathpur in western UP and Chilwaria in eastern UP. SSL has two alcohol distilleries at Simbhaoli and Chilwaria.
Financials
The company reported a 82.75% decrease in net profits at Rs 20.19 million for the quarter ended Sep. 2006 as against Rs 117.06 million during the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Sales for this period increased 55.27% to Rs 1,082.58 million from Rs 697.23 million. SSL, for the year ended Mar. 2006, reported a 10.25% increase in sales to Rs 4,307.68 million as against Rs 3,907.24 million for year ended Mar. 2005. Net profit for this period increased to Rs 290.97 million as against Rs 113.52 million.
Recent Developments
SSL enters into an agreement with Cargill International for the export of white sugar upto 25,000 MT under negotiated prices.
The name of `Simbhaoli Sugar Mills` is changed to `Simbhaoli Sugars Limited`.
SSL announces the commissioning of its new ethanol plant at Chilwaria, Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The project was completed at a cost of over Rs 250 million in nine months.
SSL announces the commissioning of its greenfield sugar unit at Brijnathpur, Ghaziabad. The plant which has capacity of 4,000 TCD has been set up at an investment of Rs 1,270 million.
Future Plans
The company plans to infuse Rs 4,230 million in overall expansion. SSL is also exploring the possibilities to set up a green field manufacturing facility in sugarcane growing countries in Africa and / or South America.
