Wimplast, manufactures high fashion injection moulded plastic furniture, under the brand name Cello, using improved moulds and machinery from Italplst, Italy. The company was incorporated in 1988.
During FY99, the company expanded its facilities, by setting up an additional new unit. It also acquired 4 new injection moulding machines from local market and 7 additional moulds for chairs and tables from the international market.
Since FY95, the company has posted revenue growth of 84% CAGR. In FY 99, the company posted a 53% growth in the net profit, fuelled by a 56% growth in sales. These high growth rates have been facilitated by a 35% growth in the industrial moulded furniture industry in India in 1999.
Future Plans
In FY2000, the company has ear marked Rs 140 million to add capacity. The commercial production of this new facility is expected to start in the 3rd quarter of FY2000. Wimplast also plans to introduce a new range of products in order to meet the changing market needs. It also expects to procure the raw material from the domestic market at a lower cost, which will boost margins.
