Mumbai-based Aplab was incorporated in 1962. It is a public limited company serving the global market with wide range of electronic products meeting the international standards for safety and reliability. The company specializes in test and measurement equipments, power conversion and UPS systems, self-service terminals for banking sector and fuel dispensers for petroleum sector. Manufacturing plants of the company are located in Bhosari, Pune and Waghe Industrial Area, Thane in Maharashtra. APLAB currently exports over 25% of its production to Western Europe, Canada and USA. Intel Instruments & Systems and Aplab Soft are the subsidiaries of the company.

In Aug. 2005 Aplab won orders worth Rs 286 million from HPCL for its fuel dispensers. More orders are likely to follow as its dispensers have been approved by various petroleum companies such as IOC, BPCL, and HPCL. The company is also seeking acceptance from private oil companies such as Essar Oil as well.

Financials
The company reported a 41.94% growth in net profits to Rs 10.39 million for the quarter ended Sep. 2006 as against Rs 7.32 million during the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Sales for this period increased 34.91% to Rs 264.73 million from Rs 196.22 million. Aplab, for the year ended Mar. 2006, had reported a 30.67% increase in sales to Rs 959.27 million as against Rs 734.13 million for the year ended Mar. 2005. Net profit for this period also increased 74.22% to Rs 48.05 million as against Rs 27.58 million. The EPS for FY06 stood at Rs 9.61.

Future Plans
Aplab is planning to introduce multi-product dispensers and turnkey solutions for retail outlet automation using INDHAN software developed in-house. The company is planning to explore the fuel station automation market by leveraging the extensive experience in Indian fuel dispenser market with the revolutionary wireless networking standards like Zigbee/Wi-Fi. The company plans to enter the higher end test and measurement instrument market with a 32-bit processor based on common platform.
