Automotive Stampings and Assemblies (ASAL), incorporated on Mar. 13, 1990, is a manufacturer of automotive sheet metal components and welded assemblies. Earlier known as JBM Tools it got its present name with effect from Aug. 29, 2003.
The company is a joint venture between Tata AutoComp Systems (Taco group), a Tata enterprise, and Gestamp Servicios S.L. of Spain. The Taco group consists of diverse undertakings primarily in the automotive sector including Tata Toyo Radiator, Technical Stampings Automotive, Taco Grundstuksverwaltungs GmbH, TACO FAURECIA Design Center, TACO Holdings (Mauritius), Tata Johnson Controls Automotive, TC Springs, Tata AutoComp GY Batteries, Tata Visteon Automotive, TACO Hendrickson Suspensions, TACO Sasken Automotive Electronics, Tata Yazaki AutoComp, Tata Ficosa Automotive Systems, Tata AutoComp Mobility Telematics, Automotive Composite Systems (International), TACO Visteon Engineering, Knorr Bremse Systems for Commercial vehicles, Nanjing Tata AutoComp Systems, and Taco Kunststofftechnik GmbH.
The ISO/TS 16949 certified company offers skin parts of cars like panels; body in white components like door inners, panel dash, and bonnet inners; under body members like supports and cross links; fuel tanks; chassis and suspension parts including trailing arms; wheel housing; oil sumps; and other products like tail lamp covers, supports and reinforcement parts. Two manufacturing plants are located near Pune in Maharashtra, one near Vadodara in Gujarat, and one at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand with a total capability to supply 30,000 tons of components and assemblies per year.
A technology transfer and technical assistance agreement is in place with Gestamp Servicios to build and expand sheet metal stamping capabilities. The company caters to automotive manufacturers such as Tata Motors, Fiat India, Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T John Deere, Piaggio India, Volvo India, Gujrat Setco, and General Motors India to name a few. Engine mounting brackets, steering yoke assemblies and other components are exported to Ford Cologne, John Deere (USA), and Trelleborg (Germany) among other companies.
