Cholamandalam DBS Finance (CHOLADBS) is a pan-Indian, composite financial services provider. The company was incorporated in 1978 as Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company. Following the completion of the joint venture transaction between the Murugappa group and DBS Bank of Singapore, the board of the company decided to rename the company as Cholamandalam DBS Finance on Jan. 27, 2006. The chairman of the company is A. Vellayan and Atul Pande is the managing director.

Today, Cholamandalam DBS Finance is one of India`s largest domestically owned NBFCs. CDFL offers finance for a wide range of vehicles like HCVs, LCVs, cars, MUVs and cargo three-wheelers. CDFL also caters to the needs of corporate and retail consumers through its retail and corporate finance wings. The products and services include vehicle finance, capital market finance, mutual funds, securities broking, depository services, insurance and distribution services, personal loans, corporate finance and investment advisory risk management services.

The company operates from over 180 locations. The company has built up a portfolio of high quality. The company has an unbroken track record of dividend payment for over 27 years. Following its partnership with DBS Bank, CDFL offers consumer finance in the Indian market. The personal loans business has spread across to 24 cities with 45 branches. The home equity loans launched in Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad is set to grow and spread across 15 cities.

The subsidiaries and associate companies include DBS Cholamandalam Distribution, DBS Cholamandalam Asset Management Company and DBS Cholamandalam Securities.

Financials
The company announced a sharp rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2009. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 6.11 times to Rs 778.30 million from Rs 127.40 million in the same quarter last year. Net sales declined marginally 3.71% to Rs 2,566 million, while total income for the quarter fell marginally 1.84% to Rs 2,620.60 million, when compared with the prior year period. It reported earnings of Rs 11.69 a share during the quarter, registering 4.79 times growth over previous year period.
