Encore Software (ENCORE) is a dynamic product development company in Information Technology. Incorporated in 1992, it was earlier known as Ncore Technology and got its present name on Aug. 31, 1999.
The company offers products and services range from DSP-based modem and speech coding technology to evolving key designs in embedded systems. Its software products are critical building blocks which enable original equipment manufacturers and semiconductor vendors to offer Voice over IP and Fax over IP solutions. Comprehensive and customizable end-to-end mobile computing solutions are also offered. Affordable information appliances like Simputer, SATHI, Mobilis and SofComp have been developed.
Headquartered in Bangalore, the company has a subsidiary in USA. About 110 SofComps and 390 Mobilis in various configurations were produced in 2006-2007, of which 220 Mobilis were sold to the Department of Communications, Government of South Africa, and 40 Mobilis were gifted to the Ministry of Education, Government of Brazil, for evaluation in their One-Computer per Student project. The company has signed an agreement with Cnotinfor, a Portuguese developer of innovative educational software, for jointly developing Indian-language versions of the software used as a children`s creativity tool, which would be very useful in participating in the Brazilian schools computerization program.
A successful entry has been made in the significant US market with the sale of 100 Mobilis to Wink Interactive, a company that sells IT solutions in the healthcare market. The International Association for Digital Publishing (IADP), Washington DC, has selected the Mobilis for a multilaterally-funded pilot project on e-learning in four universities in South Africa. An order for the development of a crime-scene recording system has been received from Technology Information, Forecasting, and Assessment Council, New Delhi involving specially-configured Mobilis devices with digital cameras and WiFi.

Encore Software registered a loss of Rs 11.39 million for the quarter ended December 2007.
Net Sales declined 54.21% to Rs 6.52 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from Rs 14.24 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
Total income dipped 54.43% to Rs 6.59 million from Rs 14.46 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
Future Plans
The company has been approached by Grupo RF-Telavo, a Brazilian technology group, to form a joint venture for local manufacturing, marketing, and customer support in Brazil of its Mobilis, Simputer, and SofComp products. It will be able to bundle it with Mobilis and SofComp devices sold in the markets including USA, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Cnotinfor has asked for sales rights of the Mobilis and SofComp in Portugal, the European Union, Angola and Mozambique.
