G R Cables (GRCABLES), incorporated in 1992, is primarily engaged in the manufacture of polythene-insulated, jelly-filled underground telecom cables, switch board cables, domestic flexible, PVC power, control cables and electrical accessories. GRCABLES is used for non metros and rural areas where the volume of traffic does not justify usage of optical fiber due to higher capital investment. Telecom cables include PIJF cables, switch board cables, LAN cables for networking, microwave and CAT-V coaxial cables. Power cable segment includes domestic flexibles, control cables, three core flat cables and zero halogen flame retardant cables. The company introduced modular switches and circuit breakers in addition to domestic cables for housing and industrial segment. The company has also introduced special range of power cables for Electricity Boards. The company has one wholly-owned subsidiary, namely Gold Island Cables, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The registered office is in Secunderabad. Its factory, with an installed capacity of 15 LCKM of Telecom cables per annum, is located at Rangareddyguda village, Mehaboobnagar district, Andhra Pradesh. Customers include BSNL and MTNL.

G R Cables swung to a loss for the quarter ended in March, 2007.Net Sales for the quarter declined 40.29% to Rs 37.20 million for the quarter ended March, 2007 from Rs 62.30 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.Total income dipped 40.99% to Rs 38 million, from Rs 64.4 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.The loss per share of the company stood at Rs 0.04 in the quarter ended March, 2007 .
