Graphite India (CAREVERF) was promoted by the Bangur group in collaboration with Great Lakes Carbon Corporation, USA in 1962. The company amalgamated with Carbon Everflow on April 1, 2001. CAREVERF thus became the largest producer of graphite electrodes in South Asia.

CAREVERF manufactures graphite electrodes, anodes and other allied products. While graphite electrodes contribute a major share of the total output, CAREVERF is becoming a graphite technology specialist, providing solutions for applications in metallurgical, chemical, aerospace and nuclear industries. Strategic diversification into specialty products has resulted in the setting up of specialty divisions in Bangalore and an impervious graphite equipment division in Nashik.

Financials
Graphite India registered a steep drop of 71.52% in net profit of Rs 328.4 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from a profit of Rs 1153.1 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Net sales rose 21.05% to Rs 2140.2 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 1768.1 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Total income rose 28.05% to Rs 2312.8 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 1806.2 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 2.24 for the quarter ended June 2007.
