Hatsun Agro Product (HATSUN) is a manufacturer of ice cream, milk and milk products. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Mar. 04, 1986 and was converted into a public limited company on Aug. 11, 1995. It got its present name on Apr. 07, 1998.
The ISO 9001:2000 certified company produces ice cream marketed as Arun Icecreams; fresh milk as Arokya, Komatha and Santosa milk packs; milk powder and milk fat. The company is a market leader in ice creams across South India with over 70 varieties. Milk powder and milk fat are produced directly from liquid milk with the help of extensive testing facilities handled by a team of dairy specialists that include over 110 veterinary doctors and other qualified professionals.
Manufacturing facilities are located in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with production capabilities of 20,000 MTPA milk powder and 11,000 MTPA milk fat. The company is setting up a milk processing unit in Honnali with a capacity of 100,000 liters per day expected to commence operations by November 2007, a processing facility in Madurai with capacity of 100,000 liters per day to commence operations by January 2008, and a 60 MT per day dairy ingredient plant in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu at a cost of INR 600 million to be operational by August 2008.
Besides India, the company also has presence in Seychelles, Sri Lanka and the Middle East markets. Its products reach over 23 countries and are used in yogurt and ice creams in Thailand, canned milk in Singapore; refreshments in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in West Asia; cheese in Egypt and Morocco; and bakery products in Canada. The registered office of the company is located at 5-A, Vijaya Raghava Road, T. Nagar, Chennai-600017, Tamil Nadu.
Financials
Hatsun Agro Product registered a profit of Rs 42.63 million for the quarter ended September 2007.
It recorded a net sales of Rs 2,096.76 million for the quarter.
Total income was Rs 2,098.44 million for the quarter ended September 2007.

On Oct. 30, 2007, the board stated that the Honnali Dairy Milk processing unit with a capacity of 100,000 liters per day was expected to commence operations by November 2007, processing facility in Madurai with capacity of 100,000 liters per day was expected to commence operations by January 2008, and decided to set up a 60MT/day dairy ingredient plant in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 600 million to be operational by
August 2008.
Future Plans
The company is planing to expand its milk-handling capacities with a new plant in Kanchipuram.
