Infosys Technologies (INFOSYS) provides consulting and information technology services to clients globally by delivering end-to-end business solutions. It was incorporated on July 2, 1981 and was converted into a public limited company on June 2, 1992.
The company provides solutions which include application development and maintenance, corporate performance management, enterprise quality services, infrastructure services, packaged application services, product engineering and systems integration. It caters to the banking and capital markets, healthcare, insurance, media and entertainment, transportation, and other industries. Outsourcing services are provides through BPO services in the Czech Republic, China, Philippines and India. The company offers consultancy focusing on the areas of strategic and competitive analysis and complex operational changes. It uses its centers of excellence and research papers with technologies like Catalytic IT, which transforms businesses by leveraging IT as a catalyst, and the Finacle universal banking solution.
The company joined the Shared Assessment Program launched by BITS to gain efficiencies in the security assessment process. In 2007, it opened a 200-seater BPO facility in Mexico, a 60-seater BPO facility in the Philippines, and launched a media process outsourcing company called Source 18 with TV18. The company has an agreement with Canadian Pacific to provide modular global sourcing services to BITS, and a multi-million dollar outsourcing contract with Royal Philips Electronics (Netherlands) to provide finance and accounting services and process purchasing orders. It has earmarked Rs 3.06 billion to set up a 8,000-seater development center in Thiruvananthapuram. The company has restructured recently in November 2007 to broaden the customer base and strengthen services.

Financials
The company reported a growth in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 34.74% to Rs 15,980 million from Rs 11,860 million in the same quarter last year. Net sales for the quarter rose 35.76% to Rs 54,290 million, while total income for the quarter rose 31.94% to Rs 54,770 million, when compared with the prior year period. The company posted earnings of Rs 27.92 a share during the quarter, registering 34.42% growth over previous year period.
