Kennametal India (KENNAMET), incorporated in 1964, manufactures hard metal products, special-purpose machines, metal castings, formings, jigs and fixtures. Earlier known as Kennametal Widia India, it got its present name on Dec. 30, 2005 and is a subsidiary of Kennametal Inc., a world leader in the metalworking industry headquartered in Latrobe, USA.
The company is a leading manufacturer of hard metal, hard metal products and machine tools catering to the needs of auto and auto related industries, light and general engineering industries. It also has milling cutters, special solid carbide tools, coated inserts, warming forging tools for bearing industry, cold forgings dies for big auto components, and other products. It seeks to provide a competitive edge to its customers through total solutions.
One manufacturing plant is located near Bangalore and the other in the Medak district of Andhra Pradesh backed by research and development facilities. The total installed capacities are 210 MTPA, 60 million jigs and fixtures and 125 special purpose machines and accessories. Besides being a sourcing base for the parent company, it exports its products to Japan, Germany and the South East Asian countries.

Kennametal India registered a 10.33% growth in net profit to Rs 117.29 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from a profit of Rs 106.31 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
Net sales rose 12.93% to Rs 974.45 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from Rs 862.91 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
Total income rose 12.76% to Rs 991.34 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from Rs 879.15 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 5.34 for the quarter ended December 2007.
