Mazda (MAZDALTD) operates though its engineering and biotechnology divisions to manufacture automated valve packages, vacuum systems, air pollution control equipment, evaporators, crystallizers, biotechnology and food products. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Sep. 03, 1990 and converted into a public limited company on Mar. 13, 1992. Earlier known as Mazda Controls, it got its present name with effect from Jul. 15, 2003.
Certified with ISO 9001:2000, and OHSAS 18001:1999, the company has an engineering division specializing in supplying equipment to industries like power, fertilizers, chemicals, bulk drugs, refineries, sugar and food industries, pulp and paper and others. The product list includes desuperheaters, turbine bypass valves, automatic recirculation valves, pressure reducing valves, reformer valves, pressure reducing stations, pneumatic control valves, safety valves, pneumatic actuators and other products. The biotechnology division produces special sugars, which are used in synthesis for advanced research in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, carbohydrates, and miscellaneous bio-chemicals.
A technical collaboration with KE Kauer Engineering of Germany is in place for the manufacture of turbine bypass valves and high pressure control valves. High pressure and low pressure heaters have been developed in-house with assistance from Croll Reynolds of USA, which uses the company`s facilities to design and manufacture equipment its supplied all over the world. It has also designed vacuum systems for applications like steel de-gassing and installed several systems successfully. Comprehensive test facilities are used to type test every control valve in its established in-house engineering test laboratory.
Major orders bagged include the Rs 36.3 million order from Siemens in February 2007 for high pressure and low pressure heaters used in power generation. Earlier, it bagged orders from PI Industries for a triple-effect forced circulating evaporator plant valued at Rs 23.71 million to reduce effluent volume and from Jindal Polyfilms for the supply of multi-stage ethylene glycol vacuum systems valued at Rs 17.5 million. Products and equipment are supplied to global engineering companies in the automotive, agricultural, heavy engineering, electrical equipment and power sectors. In continuation of its diversification strategy, the company has started manufacturing and exporting its food division products like soft drink concentrate, essence, jams and other products.

Mazda registered a 160.31% growth in net profits to Rs 20.46 million for the quarter ended June 2008 from a profit of Rs 7.86 million for the quarter ended June 2007.
Net sales rose 70.97% to Rs 174.34 million for the quarter ended June 2008 from Rs 101.97 million for the quarter ended June 2007.
Total income was Rs 175.3 million for the quarter ended June 2008.
The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 4.8 for the quarter ended June 2008.
