Mawana (MAWANA) is engaged in the business of producing sugar and related products. The company was Incorporated on Dec. 26, 2002 as Siel Sugar and then renamed as Mawana Sugars w.e.f. June 16, 2004. The sugar business of Siel vested with the company retrospectively w.e.f. Oct. 1, 2002 pursuant to a scheme of arrangement with Siel.
The company manufactures and markets sugar using the brand name Mawana. The manufacturing units are located in Mawana, Titawi, and Nanglamal. The company`s expansion plans increase total capacity to 29,500 TCD from 21,000 TCD. It has two distilleries; one at Titawi (60 KLPD) and another at Nanglamal (120 KLPD). In addition, the company has planned a total capacity of 47MW through cogenerated plants at its three sugar units.
The company launched premium refined sugar in resealable zip lock sachet, sugar cubes and sachets targeted at the hospitality industry. The premium range of refined sugar is branded Mawana Select. The consumer pack branded sugar travels through Siel`s well established FMCG distribution channel reaching 10,000 retail outlets to the northern parts of India.

Mawana Sugars registered a loss of Rs 659 million for the quarter ended June 2007.
Net sales rose 54.11% to Rs 1,649 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 1,070 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
Total income rose 50.68% to Rs 1,671 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 1,109 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
The loss per share of the company stood at Rs 15.51 for the quarter ended June 2007.
