Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics formerly known as Bayer Diagnostics India with its headquarters and production facilities in Baroda, has been active in India since 1976 and has presence in the market for medical diagnostic devices.
Siemens Medical Solutions manufactures chemical and immunochemical test systems, medical diagnostic equipment (blood analyzer & serum analyzer) and electrolyte serum analyzers. The ultimate holding company is Bayer AG, Germany. The company has a presence in various segments of the industry.
In the near patient testing segment, its RapidlabTM blood gas and RapidchemTM electrolyte analyzers provide care services in operating theatres and intensive care units of hospitals. In addition, CLINITEK analyzers and a full range of reagent strips are used for accurate urinalysis in hospital wards and laboratories.
Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics has a plant located in Baroda, Gujarat. This unit has an annual installed capacity of 82.5 million units of chemical and immunochemical test system, 1,000 units of equipments for using test systems, 3,000 units and 150 units of medical diagnostic equipment-blood analyzers and serum analyzers respectively, and 200 electrolyte serum analyzers

Bayer Diagnostics India registered a 1.65% growth in net profit to Rs 17.87 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from a profit of Rs 17.58 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
Net sales rose 2.21% to Rs 187.74 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 183.68 million for the quarter ended June 2006.
Total income rose 2.18% to Rs 194.17 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 190.03 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics announced that the TRUGENE(R) HIV-1 Genotyping Kit and OpenGene DNA Sequencing System are now supported by the Apple iMac OSX operating system. The TRUGENE iMac OSX-based system provides an integrated computational system that offers enhanced data management, simplified system configuration and networking support as well as increased flexibility and throughput for laboratories that provide genotype and gene sequence information. The system is available in Europe, Asia- Pacific, Canada, South America and Latin America as a CE marked product.
