Standard Industries Limited (SIL) is headquartered in Mumbai and was incorporated in 1892 as Standard Mills Company Ltd. In 1932, the company`s management was taken over by Mafatlals and since 1979, it became a constituent of the Stanrose group under the leadership of the R N Mafatlal. Its main divisions are textile & apparels and chemicals. The textile and apparel division is engaged in manufacturing cotton, polyester, yarn and other fabrics and mens and womens readymade clothing. The company`s textile division manufactures and markets caustic soda and potash, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, potassium carbonate, ethyl chloride and other chemicals. The company has its textile unit in Mumbai and chemical producing plant in Thane. Besides, it also has garment manufacturing units at Nadiad and Kutch in Gujarat.
