Surana Telecom (SURTELEC), part of the Hyderabad-based Surana Group was incorporated in the year 1989. The areas of application of the company include manufacture of jointing kits, JFTC and optical fiber cable. Surana Telecom, originally Surana Petroproducts, is focusing on the telecom sector and more recently on the Internet. It produces several telecom products like jelly-filled telecom cables, optical fiber cables, jointing kits, splicing/filling compounds, wire connectors, test equipment and others. It has entered CDMA handhelds and broadband services. The company?s plants are in Hyderabad and Goa.
Surana Telecom sells its products to DOT and has been exporting to Thailand, Germany and Portugal.
Its registered office is in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh and G. M. Surana is the chairman.

Surana Telecom registered a 27.15 % growth in net profit to Rs 27.15 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from a profit of Rs 16.34 million for the quarter ended September 2006.
Net sales declined 59.32 % to Rs 161.1 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from Rs 396.07 million for the quarter ended September 2006.
Total income dipped 56.63 % to Rs 175.25 million for the quarter ended September 2007 from Rs 404.11 million for the quarter ended September 2006.

Surana Telecom has been allotted land admeasuring 4.94 Acres by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (Government of Maharashtra Undertaking), at Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park (an IT SEZ), Hinjawadi, Pune.

Surana Telecom has acquired land admeasuring 50 Acres in a Sricity Multi-product SEZ, near Chennai, which has received formal approval from the Government. The various new projects proposed by Surana Telecom shall be located in this Special Economic Zone.

Surana Telecom has received approval from Central Power Research Institute for its 11 KV Power Cables (medium voltage). The Company has already received approvals for low voltage power cables from Indian Standard Institute (ISI).Surana Telecom has also received approvals from Railways for Quad Cables Jointing Kits.Further it is also setting up an A1. Continuous Cast Rod Plant and A1. Conductor Plant for 10,000 MT per annum.

The company has created IT space to the extent of 96,000 sq. ft. with plug and play facility in Hyderabad which has been let out to Oracle, Hyundai, DE Shaw. This would give a stable rental income to the company over the years.
