Nifty little-changed; BPCL, Reliance, HCL Tech up

MUMBAI: Equities were witnessing a choppy session in the absence of triggers to drive it in either direction. Oil & gas, and capital goods were the top performing sectorals indices while banks and FMCG slipped lower.

At 11:30 am National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 5133.60, up 4.7 points or 0.09 per cent. The index touched a high of 5144 and low of 5125.70.

Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 17173.83, up 8.84 points or 0.05 per cent. It touched a high of 17213.34 and low of 17150.06 in trade so far.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.39 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.78 per cent higher.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Oil&gas Index was up 1.58 per cent and BSE Capital Goods Index gained 0.83 per cent. BSE Bankex declined 0.81 per cent and BSE FMCG Index slipped 0.70 per cent.

HDFC Bank (-2.37%), Bharti Airtel (-1.60%), ITC (-1.35%), ACC (-1.11%) and Jaiprakash Associates (-1.01%) were amongst the top Nifty losers.

BPCL (2.63%), Reliance Industries (1.55%), HCL Tech (1.50%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (1.11%) and IDEA (0.92%) were amongst the top index gainers.

Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 1486 advances and 1085 declines.
