The battle over power supply in Mumbai between Tata Power and Reliance Infra reignites just days before the open house hearing called by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), reports CNBC-TV18’s Avni Raja.

Reliance Infra has distributed 28 lakh brochures to its consumers which allege that Tata Power plans to make Rs 1200 crore at the cost of the Mumbai consumer and that it is making supernormal profits by diverting power outside when there is a power shortage in the city.

In retaliation to the allegations made in the booklet, Tata Power said, “This is a malicious campaign undertaken by Rel Infra and is aimed at maligning the Mumbai consumer's faith in Tata Power. The booklet is an attempt to disturb the freedom of choice available to the consumers. This campaign goes against the ethos of competition and consumer interest.”
