The Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills (APPAPER), a part of the L.N. Bangur group, is a pulp and paper manufacturer. The company was incorporated on June 29, 1964. The chairman of the company is L.N. Bangur and R.C. Mall, the executive director.

The company`s product range meets the needs of industrial giants like Modi Xerox, Indo National; leading publication houses like MacMillan, Navaneet Publications; and in the coated segment like master coat, specialty coatings, ..etc. The company has graded products into writing and printing (azure laid, book printing, maplitho, etc), industrial (board, poster, cover, etc), newsprint (HB and deluxe), and copier (color, DP, etc).

The Rs 6,350-million expansion plan to expand the pulp line from 90,000 tons to 190,000 tons, and paper making by 25,000 tons from 155,000 tons now is under implementation. At present, there are eight paper machines installed at the two locations in Andhra Pradesh, which produce papers of different M.F & M.G varieties in the range of 21 GSM to 250 GSM as well as newsprint. With the commissioning of largest continuous digester in the country, the total bleached pulp production at the Rajahmundry unit is 181,500 TPA. The company has installed a centralized data center at the Rajahmundry unit and is implementing an enterprise resource planning system (ERP). It has won awards won like the Gold Award in the paper sector for outstanding achievement in safety management awarded by the Greentech Foundation.

Financials
The company swung to loss for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the company reported loss of Rs 43.34 million compared with a profit of Rs 23.10 million in the same quarter previous year. Net sales declined marginally by 0.95% to Rs 1,413 million, while total income for the quarter fell marginally 4.66% to Rs 1,422.55 million, when compared with the prior year period. It posted loss of Rs 1.68 a share during the quarter compared with earnings of Rs 0.90 a share in previous year period.
