Alfa Transformers (ATL) was incorporated as Alfa Transformers Private Limited on Dec. 28, 1982.
The company manufactures power transformers up to 1.60 mva/33 kv rating and its present installed capacity is 200 mva per annum. It caters to the requirements of the different state electricity boards, government undertakings as well as companies in the private sector.
Some of the existing customers of the company are M. P. State Electricity Board, Bhopal, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Bombay, Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala, Bihar State Electricity Board, Patna, Electricity Department, Government of Manipur, Imphal, Jagannath Collieries, Talcher and NEEPCO Ltd, Tinsukia, Assam.
Some of the customers of the company in Orissa are Industrial infrastructure Development Corporation, Bhubaneshwar, Mahanadi Coal fields, Gopalpur Port Project, Bhubaneshwar Development Authority Orissa Bridge Construction Corporation and Bharat Coking Coal.
The company is planning an expansion programme to manufacture power transformers up to 10 mva in the same class resulting in an increase in installed capacity up to 1,000 mva per annum.
Financials
The company disclosed a steep drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 38.35% to Rs 3.07 million from Rs 4.98 million in the same quarter previous year. Net sales declined 31.42% to Rs 50 million, while total income for the quarter fell 33.38% to Rs 51.50 million, when compared with the prior year period. It reported earnings of Rs 0.57 a share during the quarter, registering 44.66% decline over prior year period.
