ABG Heavy Industries (ABG) specializes in terminal operations, port services, crane hiring and project services. It was incorporated on Dec. 15, 1983 as a private limited company, and got its current name on going public in September 1994. The chairman of the company is Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal and Saket Agarwal is the managing director.

The company currently operates the Kolkata Container Terminal through its subsidiaries. The throughput at the terminal has more than doubled in less than a year. ABG offers a complete range of services to ports and CFS operations. It owns and has deployed quay side ship-to-shore container cranes (RMQC), rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGC), rail mounted gantry cranes (RMGC) and reach stackers in ports and CFS on BOL and BOLT basis. ABG is one of the largest crane hire companies in India with modern self erect hydraulic crawler cranes deployed in the hydrocarbon, thermal power, wind energy, steel, cement and other industrial/infrastructure projects nationwide. It specializes in project management and execution of moving and installation of difficult oversize and overweight equipment.

The company has received a letter of intent for the Kandla Container Terminal on BOT basis for 30 years. The company has an agreement with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Company, Korea, for exclusive cooperation in manufacturing, supply, and repair of material handling equipment for containers and bulk handling projects in India and other Asian and Middle East countries. The Paradip Port Trust trustees have approved a license to the company for installation, operation and maintenance of a mobile harbor crane inside Paradip port.

Financials
ABG Heavy Industries registered a 33.33% growth in net profit to Rs 34 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from a profit of Rs 25.5 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Net sales rose 20.13% to Rs 202.3 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 168.4 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Total income rose 19.26% to Rs 206.2 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 172.9 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 2.65 for the quarter ended June 2007.

Recent Developments

ABG Heavy Industries changed its name to `ABG Infralogistics` with effect from Nov. 15, 2007, pursuant to the certificate issued by the registrar of companies.

Future Plans
The company plans to undertake business expansion and raise funds up to Rs 2,500 million.

ABG Heavy Industries is planning to invest Rs 1000 million in the proposed container freight station (CFS) and logistics hub in Kolkata.

It is also bidding for further major bulk, general cargo and other terminal projects as well as looking at participation in further container terminal projects and allied activities.

ABG is also likely to enter the lucrative general stevedoring business in ports and other material handling facilities.
