Delhi-based VLS Finance was incorporated Jan. 20, 1986 as a public limited company under the name of Vardhaman Leasing and Services. The name of the company was changed to the current one on Aug. 2, 1994. VLS`s fund based activities mainly include lease and hire purchase predominantly in the corporate plant and machinery segment, inter-corporate deposits and investments in equity shares. VLS has also diversified into venture capital financing as a part of its investment portfolio. During the year 2005-06, the company`s operations continued to be focused on capital market related activities and making use of risk hedging tools such as derivatives and other risk neutral instruments. Some of the clients of the company include Ansal Properties & Infrastructure, Apollo Hospitals, Hotline Group of Company, the Flex Group and Panacea Biotec. VLS Securities is a wholly owned subsidiary of VLS.
Financials
The company reported a 40.82% decline in net profits to Rs 12.93 million for the quarter ended Sep. 2006 as against Rs 21.85 million during the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Total income for this period increased 15.46% to Rs 6,064.6 million from Rs 5,252.37 million. VLS, for the year ended Mar. 2006, had reported a 62.01% increase in total income to Rs 2,1719.39 million as against Rs 1,3406.08 million for year ended Mar. 2005. Net profit for this period also increased 0.66% to Rs 75.11 million as against Rs 74.62 million. The EPS for FY06 stood at Rs 1.89.
