Galada Power & Telecommunication (GALADA), incorporated in 1972, is engaged in the manufacture and supply of electrical conductors for overhead power transmission and distribution lines. Earlier known as Galada Continuous Castings, it got its present name on Feb. 24, 1995.
The company manufactures aluminum and aluminum alloy conductors (AAAC), specialty wires, rolled products, castings and alloy ingots. It has not been operating its Uppal (Hyderabad) plant since 2000 and at present, its Silvassa plant is operational with an installed capacity of 14,700 MTPA. As the banks suspended all credit facilities, job orders are being exectured. It has also been participating in tenders floated by power utilities and others in a limited way by having financial tie-ups with raw material suppliers and also by forming consortium with conductor manufacturers, under licensor-licensee agreement.
Venturing into marketing of optical fibbers for overhead communication lines and energy-efficient hardware fittings, the company entered into an agreement with a UK company to market its products in India. It is also present in line contracts and allied activities. The company has 220 KV sub-stations at Yerandahalli and Doddaballapur and is also qualified to quote for line contract works up to 220 KV sub-stations on its own. The company has been declared as a sick industrial undertaking by the Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) since September 2001.

Galada Power & Telecommunication registered a loss of Rs 25.1 million for the quarter ended December 2007.
Net sales declined 72.39% to Rs 62.6 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from Rs 226.7 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
Total income dipped 72.25% to Rs 63.1 million from Rs 227.4 million for the quarter ended December 2006.
The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 3.35 for the quarter ended December 2007.
